Tess’ Vintage Book Birthday Party

We all remember those special vintage children’s books, the ones with the cute illustrations or the Little Golden Books series with that telltale binding. Well, Anneliese, the creative mind behind Aesthetic Nest, took those childhood memories and turned them into the most adorable and feminine birthday party for her daughter Tess. The motifs the books are famous for, playful kittens and puppies and sweet floral patterns were all the inspiration she needed for a fun, interactive and totally DIY first birthday bash!

Let’s start with that fantastic table decor you see above! Anneliese purchased flour sack kitchen towels from Etsy and Ebay and appliqued them with vintage embroidery panels. The finishing touch? Pom pom trim! (DIY Alert! You can buy similar trim here!) Pom poms were also turned into napkin rings (See her tutorial for them right here) and the books that sparked the party’s theme acted as the centerpieces themselves.

Annelise made gorgeous and girly desserts in the form of perfectly pink cupcakes and lemon cake with strawberry buttercream. Yum! She also designed that adorable floral pattern that was used for all the paper goods and details.

For the favors, one of my favorite parts, there were blank books and crayons for the youngest guests to create their own fairytales and paper covered composition books for the adults. As if that wasn’t enough, Anneliese created bookmarks and book plates to go inside each one. The most fitting of favors for any book themed affair if you ask me!

Each guest brought a favorite book so the birthday girl could begin her collection, and the same book plates used inside the favors were also provided as gift tags!

I have yet to mention the best part! If you love these patterned paper details as much as I do, Anneliese has the printables for sale in her Etsy shop so you can create a vintage inspired book party of your very own! Happy crafting!
