Happy Weekend (+ Parks and Rec, and Land of Nod!)

1/31/2014

Me oh my, I just have a boatload of exciting news to share today! Yesterday was a pretty grand day for me! At the end of 2013, the amazing folks at The Land of Nod asked me if I’d be interested in designing the spring windows for their South Coast Plaza store! Well duh, of course I said yes!! So I started designing a “Sparkly Starry Night” theme and got to work! Yesterday I spent the day installing the windows (with the amazing help of Ms. Mary Costa!) and am so excited that they’ll be up for today’s Freshly Picked pop-up shop! If you live in SoCal, go check them out!! There’s lots of gold, glitter, and even a giant piñata. That’s how I roll. In other big news! I came home yesterday just in time to watch my birthday cake costume walk across the screen on Jeff’s favorite show, Parks and Rec!!! They contacted me a few months ago about using the costume in an episode and off it went to make it’s TV debut! I’m trying to get a screenshot of it and will update this when I do (UPDATE: See below!)!

See that!?!? Exciting!!!

Today I am catching up on the eight trillion emails that have piled up as I prepared for the window install. Then on Sunday I’ll be helping with the 2014 version of Mary’s annual heart cake shoot (remember last year’s!?), which I’ll be sharing here just in time for Valentine’s Day! Oh and it’s the Super Bowl! Don’t forget to print your bingo here! Next week I’ll have some more Valentine DIYs comin’ at you, and it’s Jeff’s birthday too! Big week!!!! But first…. links!

Parks & Rec is LITERALLY my favorite show. I’m 150% obsessed. And, I totally saw your costume last night! I was like….errr….was that a Studio DIY Birthday Cake Costume? Boyfriend was like, what? I was like, seriously, babe, that looked just like a Studio DIY Birthday Cake Costume. Again…he was like, what?

I’m so happy I was right! And congrats to you! Having any affiliation whatsoever with Parks & Rec basically makes you the coolest chick I know. For reals.

I’m currently rewatching this episode on Netflix right now, and when I saw that chick walk by in the cake, I was like, “Was that a Studio DIY costume?!” So I Googled “Studio DIY Parks and Rec,” and sure enough! It’s true! Congrats on the cool little cameo!
