If you were unsure about whether you needed to turn your baby into a giant loofah, I’m here to assure you… YOU DO! I’ve had “bath tub” on my costume list for quite some time but I’m glad I waited because now we made it a whole FAMILY affair! Even Bella rocked a rubber ducky costume like a BOSS! But let’s be real, Arlo the loofah stole the show, per usual. It’s like I don’t even need to be here anymore… haha! This is a great mommy and me or full family costume if you can convince your significant other to rock a bathrobe!
DIY Bubble Bath Family Costume
Total Time: 1+ Hours (Depending on Costume)
Supplies
For the bathtub:
Foam Cooler
Model Magic
Silver Paint
Elastic
Hot Glue Gun
Box Cutter
For the loofah:
Tulle
Hot Glue Gun
Henley Jumper
Mint Moccs
White Rope
Clear and/or White Balloons
Directions
For the bathtub:
1. Carefully use a box cutter to remove the bottom of the cooler.
2. Use model magic to form a faucet shape and, if you're feeling fancy, two knobs to go with it. Let dry completely.
3. Paint the faucet and knobs. Let dry.
4. Hot glue the faucet and knobs in place.
5. Try on the costume and have someone help you measure the length you need for two elastic straps. Mark on the elastic and on the tub where you want them to meet, then take the costume off and hot glue in place.
6. Inflate a bunch of clear balloons. You'll want to under-inflate them so they stay a round, circular shape.
7. When you are ready to wear the costume, hot glue the balloons (Yes, you can hot glue balloons, just don't touch the actual tip of the hot glue gun to the balloon!) to the tub and the straps.
For the loofah:
1. It's best to "stuff" the jumper with something (sweatshirt, old newspaper, etc.) so it resembles having a body in it, this will help as you're crafting the loofah part.
2. Start by hot gluing the end of your tulle to the side of the jumper. Then, it's honestly the most forgiving thing to make! You essentially just "bunch" up some of the tulle and glue in place, and continue to do so as you work your way around the body of the jumper. Repeat for two or more rows (depending on the size of the baby).
3. Cut a short piece of rope (You want to be short enough that it can't go over the baby's head!) and glue to the top of the jumper, just above the tulle.
For the rubber duck costume, we just glued elastic underneath and safety pinned the two ends together around Bella!

A woman on the street when we were shooting this said “Wow, your husband is such a good sport.” haha! He is, he is.

Hi!
I love your blog and IG! Do you have any ideas/recommendations for a maternity Halloween costume? I’ll be just shy of 9 months preganant for Halloween. Normally I’m super creative, but my pregnancy brain is blocking all that right now! You’re costume ideas are so great! Thanks!
