We recently decided we wanted to add a little more personality to our kitchen! After 5 years of living with the renovations, we still loved the cabinets, tile and layout we chose but wanted to add even more color and pattern.
I decided to partner with Love vs. Design to add wallpaper to the walls in the kitchen that were not tiled. They offer three removable wallpaper types and hundreds of different designs, all customizable to your color palette!
I went with the Floral Stripes in custom colors of silk and merlot and absolutely love how the wallpaper turned out. Today I wanted to share my full Love vs Design review today!
Removable Wallpaper Types
Previously, I’ve turned regular wallpaper into removable wallpaper. But this time, I wanted to make things easier and go with a ready-made removable wallpaper option, in case I ever wanted to change it out!
The most common type of removable wallpaper that you’ll see on the market is peel and stick. When done on top of a non-matte paint, this type of wallpaper removes easily just by peeling it off!
Love vs Design offers two types of peel and stick wallpaper: smooth and woven. The smooth is a traditional semi-matte peel and stick, great for bathrooms and kitchens.
The woven peel and stick is a poly fabric with a great texture.
They also offer Glissade wallpaper, which is what we chose. Glissade is a traditional wallpaper that can be installed and removed with JUST water. You simply use a spray bottle to spray water both on your wall and on the back of the wallpaper which activates the paste and you can adhere it right to your wall.
We chose this option because it is wipeable and therefore great for our kitchen space we were using it in.
The peel and stick options have a 1″ overlap whereas the Glissade is installed edge to edge.
Customizing Colors
The best feature of Love vs. Design wallpapers, in my opinion, is the wide range of colors they can be customized in! Most designs can be completely customized and you can choose from hundreds of shades. This allows you to select colors that perfectly fit your space or a color palette you’re trying to work within.
For our wallpaper we chose the Floral Stripes pattern in Merlot and Silk after ordering samples to select the colors in person.
Ordering Samples
You can order a sample of your wallpaper for $6 and with each sample, you’re able to add on an additional color swatch sheet for $6 so you can see various shade options for the color your looking for.
For example, we were trying to match a shade of white to the tile we already have in the kitchen. In addition to the pattern sample, I was able to order swatches of 8 different white shades so I could see exactly which one matched, without having to pay for 8 individual samples!
Samples are a great, large size at 9″ x 25″ allowing you to really get a feel for the pattern and material.
They’re also a perfect way to ensure the wallpaper works with your wall texture, too. Order the sample in the material you’re intending to use and you’ll be able to peel and stick it (or adhere with water if choosing Glissade) to your wall to test it.
Measuring for your Wallpaper
When measuring for your wallpaper, you’ll ignore any door and window placements. You simply want to measure the height at the highest point of your room. Then, for width, measure each wall (at its widest point) and add those measurements together.
Those two measurements will be what you enter into the website when ordering your wallpaper.
Installing Removable Wallpaper
The wallpaper comes rolled up and with instructions and an included squeegee. You follow the prep instructions included and installation is quite simple.
Each design comes labeled in panel order so you can ensure you easily get the pattern correct, especially if you choose more of a mural style.
We had many archways and cabinets to work around when installing this wallpaper, and it’s best to leave an overhang on those spots and trim the excess afterwards.
Quality and Durability of Love vs. Design Wallpaper
I’ve loved how thick and substantial the Glissade wallpaper is. It was able to cover minor imperfections in our wall easily, without them showing through. It is completely opaque. It adhered to our wall easily and beautifully.
I’ve been able to easily wipe it down when cleaning with no issues.
Adding this wallpaper completely transformed the look of our kitchen!
Love vs. Design Wallpaper is a great option for renters, home owners, families with kids and anyone looking to get a custom wallpaper look at a not-custom price to their homes. I hope this Love vs. Design wallpaper review was helpful for you if you’re debating about adding some pattern to your home!
