We all have blog crushes right? (What are yours??) Well one of mine is Katie’s Pencil Box. I mean, seriously, I want to live in her blog (or maybe she can just adopt me?). She makes every little bit of life with her sweet family so beautiful. She just welcomed a new baby, Phoebe (adorably nicknamed Bee!), into the world and since her due date fell right around her son Max’s 8th birthday, she decided to throw him an early unbirthday party! But not just any party, a messy paint party. She definitely wins #1 mom in every little boy’s book right about now…
Katie kept it simple, splattering an old sheet with paint for a backdrop and making a few of Jordan’s paper dot garlands.
She provided washable paint, in spray form and in buckets, and let the kids go to town outside on a white drop cloth hung from a clothesline! Then she brought out the water slide and water balloons to wash it all off. The fun way.

If you aren’t afraid of a mess, I’d say this is the best idea for an inexpensive and AWESOME birthday party. A special thanks to Katie for letting me share Max’s awesome day, and big congrats on her new addition to the family!

Do you know where she purchased paint and what brand paint she purchased? Thank you!

Hi there! I don’t know the exact brand Katie purchased, but she just used washable paint (which you can get at an art supply store or Target) and combined it in spray bottles with some water to form the “spray” paint. Hope that helps!
