Need an idea for Easter brunch that will please the whole family!? Try an Easter brunch board. We’ve found in our house that our son LOVES any sort of board or sampler platter because he has more autonomy in choosing what he gets to eat! But for this one, I put an Easter spin on it.
I combined a rainbow of Easter treats, like Italian Easter breads and Strawberries dipped to look like carrots, with colorful fresh veggies and beet pickled eggs! And the best part about putting together a board is that you can size it up or down to feed however many you need!
I’ll break down everything I used below so you can recreate it for your Easter celebration, plus a video showing how I put it all together!
Easter Brunch Board Essentials
Before I share exactly what I used in my board, here’s a breakdown of the “categories” I recommend hitting for your Easter brunch board!
- Something carb-y and sweet: Italian Easter breads (more on that below!), waffles, French toast or pancakes are great for this!
- Eggs: Since you most likely have purchased eggs to dye or hide, use them in your brunch board too! Hardboiled eggs, deviled eggs or mini quiches are perfect.
- Fruits & Veggies: To balance out the above, add in some fruits and veggies. They also add color too! Great options are carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes and berries. Don’t forget to add a yummy dip to go with!
- Charcuterie: Cheese, meats and crackers are always a staple (and hit!) on any board
- Sweet treat: Whether it’s Easter candy, chocolate dipped strawberries or another sweet treat, it’s always fun to include something that checks off the category of “dessert”!
Assembling A Brunch Board
You can watch the video below to see a time-lapse of how I assembled my Easter brunch board!
Always start with the largest item you’ll be using. For me, that was Italian Easter breads. I made those the statement of the board but cascading them down the center. Next, add in your fruits and veggies on one section of the board, followed by any charcuterie. Fill in the next section with your savory egg item(s) and finally, end with the desserts, dips and any toppings you choose to add!
Now, let’s talk about the specifics of what I used on my brunch board.
Italian Easter Breads
Have you ever heard of Italian Easter bread or pane di pasqua? It’s a beautiful bread with a dyed, egg baked right in! You can make individual ones, like I did here, or a larger bread with multiple eggs baked in. Many other cultures and countries have their own version of this, like Greek Tsoureki.
You can find recipes for mini Italian Easter breads here and here, and the larger braided bread here! You can find a recipe for Greek Tsoureki here!
Try Adding Color To Your Eggs!
If you want to add color to your board, try doing it with eggs. Yes, eggs! If you’re family is planning to dye Easter eggs, why not use those hard boiled eggs as a part of the board?
You can learn how to dye eggs any color of the rainbow using food coloring here!
Prefer a more natural dye? Try beet pickled eggs! You can check out recipes for hard-boiled beet picked eggs here and deviled beet pickled eggs here.
Turning Strawberries Into Carrots
A really fun way to add color, and turn strawberries into a festive treat is to turn them into carrots. Simply use orange candy melts! Melt the candy melts and dip the strawberries. Then put a bit of the extra melted candy into a piping back (or plastic bag with the corner cut off) and pipe it back and forth across the strawberries to add a little decoration!
If you want to get fancy, try making mini “dirt cups” using them and adding those to your board!
Crudités & Charcuterie
Finish off your board with the makings of a typical charcuterie board or platter… fresh veggies, cheese and meats. Pair with your favorite crackers and dips. Here’s what I used:
- Fresh strawberries (in addition to the dipped ones I mentioned above!)
- Cucumbers, sliced
- Rainbow carrots (to add even more color!)
- Cherry tomatoes
- Cubes of cheese (this is always a hit with the little ones!)
Finish Your Board with Treats and Toppings!
Easter is the perfect opportunity to use candy as your “dessert” and save time instead of making a dessert from scratch. Because who doesn’t love Easter candy? You can get a variety of chocolate egg candies and sort them by color, or add in a large chocolate bunny for a fun and festive pop on the board!
I’m personally a huge fan of mini Cadbury eggs and peanut butter M&M eggs in case you need some ideas. 😉
