When going through recent baby name submissions, we noticed several people asking for girl names that end in “a” so today we’ll be helping two of those mamas with their baby name questions!
There are, of course, thousands of names that end in “A”, both long and short, new and old, but we tried to pick a handful of unique names that spanned all those categories, plus for one of the submissions we narrowed in on “earthy” and nature inspired names that fit the bill!

Kelly C has one child, Emerson Capri, and a baby girl on the way. Here’s what she’s looking for in a name:
“I like names that are not too popular. Most of the names my husband likes end in A (think Mila, Isla, Valentina, Sophia). Right now our top pick is Sienna – just not sure if I love it yet! I liked Magnolia or Winslow but hard no from the hubs.”

“We love unique earthy names that end in “A” we picked the middle name Elizabeth after her aunt and great aunt.”
And here are our faves…
We took the term “earthy” to mean anything inspired by nature, energy and even some spiritual influences. Here’s the list we came up with.
- Alma
- Aurora
- Calla
- Dahlia
- Delta
- Flora
- Gemma
- Isla
- Luna
- Lilia

We think all of these pair so well with the middle name Elizabeth, and with the two siblings this little one will be joining!

Have always loved the name Pippa!
My name is Freja, my daughter is called Vega. Both cute “ends with an a”-names for girls.
Viola!
Or Lola!
Viola was my grandmothers name and I named MY daughter Lola ❤️
Viola was my cousin’s other grandmother’s name, and both she and her daughter have it as a middle name. I’ve always loved it so much! Classic yet unique.
Havana 😊 That’s my daughter’s name
My name is Samantha and My mom is Monica and my sisters are Jessika and Rebecca. We all have “A” names on purpose. 🙂
I’ve always loved the name
Ada. From the second list I really like Gemma but not so much how it’s pronounced in english. Wasn’t on the list but Paola is another favorite of mine.
J-eh-mah 🙂
Nora is my favorite, but I couldn’t get my husband on board with that one. I also LOVE Louisa.
Sierra or Mina!
Francesca!!! That’s what we named our second daughter and she has some pretty cute nicknames too… Frankie, French Fry, Frangipane 🙂
My daughter is Saskia and it suits her to a t. My heritage is Dutch and I’ve always wanted to use it and luckily my partner loved it too
My daughter’s name is Ada, so I’m biased! My mom is Ann and I’m Alexa, so we wanted to continue with the “A” names. I love that it’s not as common as “Ava” but is short and classic. <3
I’ve always loved sweet, simple girl names that end in a! My name is Anna and though it isn’t original or unique by any means, it’s is timeless and spans across many cultures which I love. Our dog’s name is Luella (we call her Lu!) so I loved seeing that on the list.
Our last name ends in an -a so I’m nervous to use an -a ending name but I might get over it if we ever have a girl! My husband loved Freja/Freya but I’m not 100% sold.
I love: Clara, Emilia, Lila, Nova, Ella, Louisa, Elena/Elaina, Mara, Mila
Saga. I wanted to name my firstborn that but the father vetoed. So now I have a Martha m. But I still love the name Saga.
We have an Adelina, found from a song by a band we like. It’s a less common ‘a’ ending.
Congratulations! Name choosing is the best part of pregnancy! The name Alia ( Gr. diminutive of Helen meaning ‘light’, or Hebrew for ‘ascender’), is how we honored both grandmothers named Emily and Amelia. Happy choosing!
My daughters name is Ezra! Usually for boys, but it fits her so well!
I always look forward to these! It was fun to see that my three potential girls names were in here- Etta, Willa and Calla.
Alma means soul in Portuguese. Good choice! You could go super earthy with “Terra”
Eva, Lea, Esra
My name is Fabiola, most girl names that I can think of end in A, Valeria, Emilia, Ivana, Alicia, Isabella, Natalia, Regina… I love this blog post series, they always make my day x
My name is Akira – always been told how unique it is haha!
We have a cat Aurora and she also knows her name Rory or Rora, so sweet.
Olivia is pretty common, but makes me think of Olive which is one of my favourite “nature” names. Someone once asked for a vegan friendly name in a Facebook group and the answers were not as lovely as these ones are 🤣
I love Leona, Louisa, and Lillya!
For family #1 I like Sienna very much! Your suggestions of Luella and Tabitha are 👌🏽. I also think Camilla would sound nice with Emerson. Farra(h) is my all time fave name that ends with the a sound.
For family #2 I’m gonna suggest: Perla, Palma, Vista, Sonoma, Sierra, Sedona or Allegra. I really like your suggestions of Vera and Paloma!
Helena is a top fav of mine. Amelia, Annika and Moira as well
My top a names are Sequoia and Saphrona (saffron-a)
Samara
I’m Joanna and my sisters middle name is Virginia
I named my daughter Amalina following a dream I had about her name. I loved the possibilities of nicnames- Ama, Mina, Lina, Mila. We mostly call her Ami or Pickles🤷♀️
My name is Priscilla! My parents named me after Priscilla Presley.
Zinnia!
Louisa! We named our daughter Louisa. I love that it is soft, classic, and makes me think of Little Women
Ours is Louisa, too! Little Women + Sound of Music for me. We call her Lou!
My daughter’s name is Della, a less common and fun name!
I think Kaia is beautiful! Also Mila, Tova, or Aryana!
Alba?
My daughter’s name is Sara and I love the names Flora and Nova!
