Supplies Needed
- Floral Fabric
- 1/2″ or narrower elastic
- Sewing machine (you could hand sew or use fabric glue for this if you’d like, instead!)
- Needle and thread
- Fabric Scissors
Step by Step Tutorial
1. Cut a piece of floral fabric to 10″x36″
2. Fold in half, right sides together, and sew with a 1/2″ inseam, leaving a 3″ opening near one end.
3. Push one end of the tube through the tube until it meets the other end.
4. Stitch the openings of the tube together with a 1/2″ inseam.
5. Turn the circle right side out through the opening you left.
6. Cut a 7″ piece of elastic and thread it through the scrunchie using a safety pin.
7. Stitch the ends of the elastic together.
8. Hand stitch the opening closed!
You’re done! Pair with your favorite summer dresses to instantly add color and pattern.
No-Sew Oversized Scrunchie
Want to make a no-sew giant scrunchie? Just use fabric glue in place of stitching in each step above. It will turn out just as beautiful. Be sure to follow package instructions and allow it to dry fully in-between each step.
How To Wear an Oversized Scrunchie
Wear your oversized scrunchie with a low ponytail, high ponytail or low bun. Pair with a tee and jeans or summer dress.
Perfect for running errands, date night, the beach and of course, a garden party!
In-between your summer activities, give Garden Joy a try and play around with plants and home decor to create beautiful backyards, gardens and more! You’ll learn all about gardening and win points and prizes, too!
