Oh, you guys KNEW this was coming. ‘Cause when your San Francisco hotel is literally ABOVE the most hyped bakery in the city, you get up at 7am and stand in line for two hours to see what it’s all about. Yep, I’m talking about Mr. Holmes Bakehouse and their infamous cruffin. A croissant muffin, you guys. On the day we went it was a s’mores cruffin!!!!!!!! Keep reading for a peek at our cruffin adventure and whether or not I really think it was worth the wait!
Now normally I find when something has a line that long and is hyped that much, it’s really kind of a let down once you try it. But this… this was WORTH. IT. And I’m not just saying that, it really was. Probably the messiest thing I have ever eaten, but seriously one of the best.
Of course, they also have 1,000 other delicious treats, like the donuts and the amelie amann (below). They have two seperate lines, one for the cruffins and one for everything else. The cruffins don’t roll out until about an hour after the bakery opens. We got there at around 7:30am on a Saturday and the cruffin line was already about 30 people deep. The cruffins came out around 9am and at that point the line was completely wrapped around the block.
SO! My recommendation is to go with a pal and have one person wait in the cruffin line while the other gets some pastries to snack on while you wait. Whatever you guys. GO BIG OR GO THE HECK HOME.

The fact that the boxes are gold foil is really just the icing on the cake. Or the cream in the cruffin? No? Too far. If you’re in San Francisco and willing to get up at the crack of dawn in the name of pastries, I highly recommend it!
