DIY Rhinestone Statement Earrings

It’s finallyyyy here!!! I’ve been wearing these rhinestone statement earrings for the last couple weeks and getting SO many questions about them. Well, guess what!? They’re a DIY!!! But I can’t take credit for this one. These were actually a DIY gift that my friend Cyn (better known as @hotpinkpineapples, perhaps!?) gave me. When I opened the box I immediately messaged her and was like DID YOU MAKE THESE and WILL YOU SHARE THE TUTORIAL ON THE BLOG!? And she said yes to both, so here she is.

I had never seen some of these rhinestoned beads before so I couldn’t believe it when Cyn told me she found all these supplies at various bead and craft stores. (And don’t worry, we also found online links for you guys too!) I think this would be the BEST craft night activity since there are endless combinations you can make. Cyn is teaching us some of the basic steps today and then you can take those and run with ’em to make as many variations as you’d like!

Supplies

You can find most if not all of these supplies locally at craft stores like Michaels or Jo-Ann's or if you're in LA, check out Bohemian Crystals in DTLA! Here are the online sources for those who prefer to shop that way:

Jewelry Tools (Flat or Needle Nose Plier, Round Nose Plier, Wire Cutters)

For the gumball style rhinestone earrings:

Two rhinestone 24mm gum ball chunky beads
Two flat back 19mm - 23mm triangle rhinestones
Two 2.5" eye pins
Four 1" brass tube spacer bead
Two 10mm end caps
Two flat post earrings pieces
Two earring backs

For the heart style rhinestone earrings:

Two heart shape flat back foil rhinestones ( or pave 33-34mm heart rhinestones)
Two round (or heart) shape flat back foil rhinestone 19mm-23mm ( or pave 23mm heart or circle flat back rhinestone)
Two 14mm velvet round beads
Two 2.5" eye pins
Four 10mm end caps
Two flat post earring pieces
Two earring backs

Directions

For the gumball earrings:

1. Flatten two end caps using flat or needle nose pliers.
2. Glue the flattened end cap to your triangle rhinestone pieces just at the bottom of the stone so the small loop hangs off. Also glue the earring backs onto the rhinestones just above your end cap.
3. Cut approximately 1/3 off of two of your brass tub spacer beads. Discard smaller pieces.
4. String the gum ball beads, the large cut piece of your brass tubular bead (this will actually sit inside the gumball bead) and one whole brass tubular bead on to an eye pin. Create a loop in the top of eye pin with your round nose pliers.
5. Hook the loop of your head pin to your fully dried end cap. Then close tightly with your round nose pliers. Done!

For the heart earrings:

1. Flatten four end caps using flat or needle nose pliers.
2. Glue one flattened end cap to each of your round rhinestone pieces at the bottom of the stone so the small loop hangs off and glue one flattened end cap to each of your heart rhinestone pieces. Making sure loop hangs off as well.
3. Open the loop of the eye pin and hook on your fully dried heart rhinestone using the end cap. Close with pliers to secure.
4. String one small velvet bead onto your eye pin. Make a loop on the other end with your round nose pliers just at the top of your bead and cut off extra wire.
5. Hook loop to the fully dried end cap on your small rhinestone. Close to secure.
