Basically waited my whole life to be able to do a WAGON COSTUME!!!!!! I just love the idea of being able to use a functional vehicle for trick-or-treating but also making it apart of the costume. HOW FREAKING FUN!!!!! So of course, my first idea was food oriented… a DIY toaster wagon and a toast costume for the kiddo!! OH man, it’s so cute. And if you have twins, it would be even cuter!!!! Can you handle it?? And crazy easy too! Here we go!
DIY Toaster + Toast Costume for Kids
Total Time: 3+ Hours
Supplies
For the Toaster Wagon:
Wagon
Two 32 x 40 Sheets of Pink Mat Board (You can buy at an art store!)
Thick Wrapping Paper Tube
Smoothfoam Ball
Smoothfoam Disc
Silver Paint
Silver Cardstock
Hot Glue Gun
Scissors
Zip Ties
For the Toast:
Craft Foam in Tan, Brown and Yellow
White 1/2" Elastic
Hot Glue Gun
Scissors
Pencil
Directions
For the Toaster:
1. Draw a toaster shape on the back of one piece of your mat board. Cut out carefully using a good pair of scissors.
2. Trace the shape on the back of the other piece of mat board and cut out.
3. Paint the bottom of each toaster shape with silver paint.
4. Cut the wrapping paper tube to be about 12" long.
5. Glue the foam ball to one side of the tube.
6. Paint the tube and foam circle and the foam disc silver and let dry.
7. Cut out letters to spell the toaster brand you'd like and glue onto the front of the toaster.
8. Glue the foam disc and the tube/ball to the back of the toaster cut out.
9. To attach the toaster pieces to the wagon, use zip ties and tie it to the metal part of the wagon (assuming you're using the style wagon we used)! Hold the toaster piece up to the side of the wagon and figure out where you want it to sit. Then poke two holes around the metal top of the wagon on one side. Slip the zip tie through the holes, connect it through the back and pull taught. Then repeat on the other side. And finally, repeat with the back piece.
For the Toast:
1. Cut 2 toast shapes out of tan foam.
2. Cut 2 slightly larger toast shapes (they don't have to be perfect, no slice of bread is!) out of brown foam.
3. Last, cut a small rectangle out of yellow foam and slightly curve each corner.
4. Glue the tan shape to the brown shape, and then the yellow on top of that in one corner. Repeat with the second shapes for the back.
5. Cut two pieces of elastic long enough to go over the child's shoulder and glue to the back of each piece of toast, making "straps."

All I want to do is make wagon costumes, honestly. We have another one coming this season. Stay tuned!!
Also, a great mom option for this is the toaster pastry costume!!!

Seriously dead!! OMG this is so adorable! I’m crying!!! <3 Now I just need a baby to make this costume happen! Or would it be weird if I had my husband push me around in a wagon so I could do it myself?? Worth it haha
