How to Add Color to Your Winter Wardrobe

You ask, I listen! Fashion was one of the top topics you wanted to see more of, according to the reader survey, and I’m REALLY excited to make that happen! I have a confession though: I hate dressing myself in winter. I find it very hard to find winter clothes that fit my colorful, pattern-filled style. Everything always seems to be neutrals and dark colors and BLAH… doesn’t work for me! I figured some of you who love a good dose of color might feel the same so I decided to bring in the experts! I teamed up with my pal Jen Pinkston, fashion blogger and wardrobe stylist, to help me find some pieces to brighten up my winter wardrobe. I am SO excited about what she found, and how the pieces paired easily with items I already have. So today, I have 4 fun outfits, plus a bonus dose of colorful coats, to get your cold weather clothes looking a little more bright!

I told Jen one of the hardest things for me to find was a cute, colorful coat. Luckily, she didn’t have that same problem and brought options….

I am SO excited for my new colorful pieces now that it’s…. 80 degrees again in LA. HA! They did come in handy on my NYC trip though, and when LA decides to have it’s second bout of “winter” I’m gonna layer ’em all on. A HUGE thank you to Jen for helping me play dress up for the day.

I’m normally not interested in fashion because I feel like there are already sooo many blogs addressing it, but I have to say, you nailed it. Your style is absolutely nothing like what the fashion blogs are doing and I love it! If you can do fashion like this, in Studio DIY style, I’m in! Great job finding a unique perspective!

Thank you Lynne! I’m so glad to hear that feedback!! Excited to do more Studio DIY style fashion posts in the future!

Can we talk about those yellow heels? How comfortable are they? I’m a heel novice, but those are so cute.

SO AWESOME right!? I have to say, I haven’t walked a ton in them yet, but for the couple hours I had them on in the studio they were pretty comfy!

Love all of these! I’m not afraid of wearing colour and sometimes I think that wearing too much colour can make you look like a clown. These outfits don’t! You’ve toned them down with either black or neutral shades. Fantastic!

My favourite item is the jumper. I can definitely see myself in this 🙂

Nailed it!!! I love all these outfits. I know there are a million and one fashion bloggers out there, but I still feel like there’s a lack of posts like THESE. I always love your fresh, colorful style and I have a feeling your fashion posts are going to be dangerous for my wallet…

I love the mixing of patterns. I am always afraid to buy patterned items! The H&M flowered sweater/coat is a dream I would love to find that! The purple trench is my favorite coat, the cut looks perfect! xx

I love all of your colorful clothes and shoes so much. However, I can never find those colors when I’m out shopping. Can you tell me where to shop for online?
