When one of your closest friends comes to town, and she also happens to love a good party… a big ol’ bash is in order! Ashley from Sugar & Cloth swung by LA last week for a work trip and we teamed up with Lowe’s to throw a schnazy Wednesday brunch for some of our fave blogger + entrepreneur lady friends! Ash and I both happen to share a love for cacti (Don’t we all right now?!) and Lowe’s happens to sell a whole bunch of ’em so it was the perfect theme, along with tacos, donuts and macarons… of course. Here’s the full scoop!
We created a “Prick Your Poison” sweets + sips bar with all the essentials. I worked with California Donuts to create some avocado donuts! They made the avo shapes and I sliced a donut hole in half for the “seed”. Ashley came in with one of her stellar macaron DIYs and painted cacti on some Lette Macarons! We also offered DIY paloma cocktails, where guests could add a splash of tequila and a squeeze of lime to their bottle of grapefruit soda.
For the center of the table we potted a variety of cacti from Lowe’s in white planters and gold bowls and mixed in some gorgeous pink florals. Ashley designed a pretty amazing watercolor placemat and menu, which you can download on her site right here! The table wouldn’t be complete without a DIY (duh!) so we “filled” This Is Ground’s cord tacos with some crepe paper “lettuce” and set them on each plate. Ha, they were so cute!
Lowe’s has these AMAZING plant stands that we turned into stools by adding grips to the bottom. I think they might have been my favorite part of the tablescape. Isn’t the pattern gorgeous!?
We brought the outdoors in and set up a little patio seating area for pre-brunch cocktail drinking!
We sent everyone home with a DIY cactus favor, planted in PVC end caps! And then, Ashley and I rejoiced in a successful event by laughing at each other. Ha, our relationship in a nutshell right there.
