How To Make a Strawberry Shortcake Costume
Strawberry Shortcake is the star of the show! And it’s easy to transform into her with just a few clothing items like her signature striped socks and a shower cap that makes the perfect bonnet! Then all you need is a little felt and a hot glue gun! No sewing required.
Supplies Needed
- Red & Green Felt
- Scissors
- Hot Glue
This classic strawberry shortcake costume is assembled with a white apron over a red dress. Green diamonds are glued to the front and a giant felt strawberry is glued to the top of her hat! Paired with green and white striped socks and brown shoes you will be looking like your favorite childhood character in no time!
For the apron
1. Start by cutting out 3 (4-inch wide) diamond-shaped pieces of green felt.
2. Arrange all the diamonds on the front of the apron towards the bottom leaving about 1 inch of space between them.
3. Hot glue them in place, then wait a few minutes for the glue to dry and fully set.
For the strawberry hat
1. Using the red felt, cut out a rounded diamond shape for the strawberry. It’s going to be wider at the top and more tampered at the bottom.
2. Cut out the strawberry top and stem out of the green felt. It helps to first draw on the felt the shape that you want with a pencil and then cut it out.
3. Finally hot glue the strawberry onto the center of the shower cap. Then glue the stem slightly overlapping the strawberry. Allow everything to dry for a few minutes.

1. Take your green ribbon and tie it into a bow. Cut off any excess ribbon on both ends.
2. Next hot glue the ribbon to the top of your pink shower cap. Allow the glue to cool for a few minutes before wearing the cap.
To decorate the petticoat
1. Take your small pink flowers and arrange them where you want them to go on your petticoat.
2. Once you are satisfied with the pattern, hot glue them in place and allow the glue to set for a few minutes.
